When I was a young boy, I sat in the doorway between the living room and kitchen of our dreary little home in Hull dreaming. I don’t think it was the first time that I asked those questions…

Who am I?

What am I?

What is the purpose of all this?

What happens when I die?

The experience I had in those moments have shaped my life in many ways. I suddenly saw myself in a small room connected to a machine through which I was experiencing my life. A sort of VR machine in retrospect. Not only that but there was room after room after room of ‘people’ just like me also connected to the machines.

I was 4 or 5 years old. It was my first alternate reality experience. My first peak experience. I was in a kind of trance. I did that often back then. But the idea that this wasn’t real – was a game or some sort of holiday stuck with me. Of course, when I saw the movie the 13th Floor my jaw hit the floor and again with The Matrix.

Last night, my jaw hit the floor again. I watched Anthony Peake deliver two hours of the most brilliant analysis and amazing conclusions about reality.
